My name is Theresa Lingardo. I was born in Springdale, Arkansas, but I have lived in Cincinnati for most of my life. My mom works for Procter and Gamble while my dad is a High School sports official. I have two sisters, one older and one younger. My younger sister is 13 and in the 8th grade, while my older sister is 23 and lives and works in Chicago, Illinois for an accounting company. I went to Mount Notre Dame High School where I was really involved in many clubs such as National Honors Society and the Youth Philanthropy Council. I'm also trying to become more involved here at UC by joining Kappa Alpha Theta, a social fraternity. In my free time in high school, I was a dancer on a dance team for a private studio called West Chester Dance Academy. I was a dancer for 15 years, and this is the first year I have not taken any classes. At my studio, I helped teach some of the younger classes, and I also ran an after school dance program, where I would go to local schools to put on a 6 week dance class. Teaching these dance classes really helped me to realize why I want to be a teacher, and it also helped me realize that I want to teach older students, and not younger kids. I decided to pick Physics as my content area because I love science and I think it will be a really interesting subject to teach. I'm really excited to continue more education classes and learn how to become the best teacher possible!

ISTE-NETS-T Standards for Teachers
1. Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments. Teachers:

a. promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness

A lot of times, students do not really understand complicated information, until it is presented to them in different formats. That is why I think it is very important that teachers bring in creativity into their lesson plans. Sometimes this can be a challenging task, but that is where the use of technology comes in. By using technology, teachers can integrate their own subject knowledge with new interesting techniques of grabbing the attention of their students, so that they can better retain the information presented to them. I know that for me, I learn best through demonstrations and clear examples. I feel that the information seems more interesting when it engages students and connects to real world examples.

This standard has been exemplified in this class with the assignment of our lesson plan project. By creating a lesson plan, we as students were required to act like future teachers and create an interesting and constructive plan to engage our students. Through this project, we modeled creative and innovative thinking by comming up with lesson plans that were able to grab the attention of the students while also having them learn new information. In our own future classrooms it would be a great idea to do a project sort of like this lesson plan project. A teacher could assign pieces of a chapter to certian groups and have them come up with ways to present the information to the class. Through this technique, the students can learn in new ways that will engage and excite them.

5. Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership
Teachers continusously improve their professional practice, model lifelong learning, and exhibit leadership in the school and pofessional community by promoting and demonstrating the effectie use of digital tools and resources. Teachers:

c. evaluate and reflect on current research and professional preactice on a regualr basis to make effective use of existing and emerging digital tools and resources in support of students learning.
As technology continures to change, it is important that teachers also change their methods of teaching. To reach the greatest number of students, teachers must be willing to learn about how new techhnologies can help students to understand materials better. Teachers also must be willing to continue the grow in their own knowledge so that they can keep in touch with how to relate materials from class to real life situations that students can connect with.
Through this class, we have been shown many resources that can help teachers further their own knowledge of how to integrate technology into class lessons. Some of the sites that we have been shown in class include edutopia.org and freetech4teachers.com. These sites allow teachers from all over to post their own experiences with technology in thier classrooms and how they integrate new techniques that interest their students. The sites also help teachers learn how to reach students with different learning styles so that they can be as successful as possible. Through the websites we have been shown, I now know where to go when I become a teacher to look for new and exciting ways to integrate technology in my lessons. These sites will allow me to better my knowledge as a teacher so I can continue to grow along with my students. 2. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and AssessmentsTeachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating comtemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETS Teachers: c. customize and personalize learning activities to address students learning styles, working stratagies, and abilities using digital tools and resources. Today, students are always engaged in many aspects of their lives. That is why it is very important that teachers adapt their lesson plans to include information and activites that students today are familiar with. When students can associate topics learning in class with real life scenarios, they are more likely to understand and remember these concepts. Using technology is one of the best ways to accomplish this. When teachers can integrate technology into lessons, students are more excited about the lesson and more excited about being in class. I think that the lesson plan project strongly demonstrated this standard. It was our job to create a lesson plan that tied together the topic of the planets and new styles of learning that used technology. By personalizing the activity by assigning students their own planet, they were able to work effeciently and creatively to build thier own knowledge. When students build their own knowledge, they are more likely to remember the material and be successful when it comes time to take the test. If teachers today can work to incoporate modern techniques and modern issues into their lessons, students will be more excited about school and more successful in the classroom.
